Abby's Garden (Storment)

Abby’s Garden is the daycare ministry Tonya Storment helped start in La Vega, the town where the Storments lived in the Dominican Republic from 2017–2020.

The daycare has several purposes:

  1. To provide excellent care for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.
Daycares in the DR are usually government-run institutions where the child-to-caregiver ratio is 15:1. At Abby’s Garden, we keep the ratio to no more than six children per worker, and we teach them about Jesus and His love for them.

  2. To provide opportunities to share the Gospel with parents and encourage them in their parenting.
This happens through regular parent meetings and book clubs.

  3. To provide jobs for women in the DR who otherwise have limited opportunities for meaningful employment.
In this way, we seek to help the poor, as Scripture instructs us to do.

  4. To meet a vital childcare need for working families.
In the DR, both parents typically must work to support their families. Abby’s Garden helps meet this essential need.

Tonya makes regular trips to La Vega to deliver supplies for Abby’s Garden, to ensure things are going well and that goals are being met, and to spend time with the children. She always holds a meeting with the parents of Abby’s Garden children while she is there.

Please prayerfully consider giving to Abby’s Garden. Monthly supporters help immensely so that we know what we can count on each month. One-time or occasional donations also help greatly.
