Who We Are
We are Theodore and Angeline, serving in India through WISHALL (Women in Self Help Action in Lord's), an organisation that equips local churches for holistic community transformation. Theodore is a missionary social worker with more than 25 years of experience across several Indian states, and he leads WISHALL today. Angeline is part of the ministry too, teaching women different livelihood skills, counselling women and helping to build broken families. We are parents to two sons, Addin Timothy (17) and Kevin Samuel (13), who have grown up in the middle of this calling.
We carry a burden to facilitate the restoration of broken families, and a desire to equip people to build God's Kingdom from the most vulnerable communities of India through intervention models that imbibes community ownership, utilizing local resources and sustainability.
The India Context
India is one of the world's largest and most diverse nations, yet millions still live with deep vulnerability in crowded urban slums, remote villages and tribal regions. For many families, especially women, the daily struggle is for food, steady income, education for their children, freedom from the grip of moneylenders and abuse at different levels. Meanwhile, many local churches have lost sight of their purpose and struggle to grow and bear fruit. We believe the local church is still God's chosen way of bringing transformation, and we long to help churches recover a vision for the whole of life.
What We Do Through WISHALL
WISHALL began in 1999 to train church planters, missionaries and church leaders in practical community transformation. Today we work in some of the most vulnerable parts of the country, seeking change at the level of the individual, the family and the community.
- Women: Weekly Transformation Groups of 10–15 women who save together, access fair loans, learn income-generating skills and grow through Bible stories. Our livelihood initiatives include skill development, business training and creating a platform for women to earn from their skills (The Purple Merchants).
- Children and youth: Children Transformation Centers offering learning support, nutritious meals and values-based learning, along with Young Girls Groups and Life Skills Education for adolescents and youth aged 12–24.
- Families and churches: Train families on building stronger families and equipping churches to show God's love through practical compassion which results in equipping beleivers as integral disciples and the Church act as an agent of God's transforming power in the local communities.
- Health and Nutrition: FAITH Gardens (Food Always In The House) for year-round nutrition, especially in tribal communities.
Our values are Collaboration, Integrity, Catalyst and Compassion. We come alongside communities and equip the local church to lead.
Our Vision for 2030
By 2030 we hope to reach 100 vulnerable communities, form 300 Transformation Groups impacting 5,000 families, train 1,000 women in income-generating skills, and bring 150 of the most vulnerable women and their families into freedom. We also hope to establish 50 Children's Education Centers serving 1,500 children.
Our Family
Ministry and family life are woven together for us. Addin Timothy, 17, is growing into a young man, and Kevin Samuel, 13, is not far behind. Angeline's heart for counselling women and rebuilding broken families shapes our home as much as our work. We want our sons to grow in knowing Christ every day, and we ask for prayer as we raise them in the middle of this work.
How You Can Partner with Us
We would value your prayers for the churches and communities we serve, for wisdom in leading the work, and for our family, and we welcome partnership in training, livelihood and education initiatives.
